Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign raises $143m in August

Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign raised an eye-popping $143 million in August for her candidacy and the Democratic Party, the best showing of her campaign, her team said Thursday.
The haul allows team Clinton to begin September – and the election’s home stretch – with more than $68 million on hand.
Of the $143 million raised last month, $62 million was raised for Clinton’s campaign.
“Thanks to the 2.3 million people who have contributed to our campaign, we are heading into the final two months of the race with the resources we need to organize and mobilize millions of voters across the country,” Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook said in a statement.
“These resources will help us to register and turnout millions of voters to elect progressive candidates across the country.”
By comparison, Barack Obama raised a total of $97 million in August 2012, including $84 million for his campaign, according to the New York Times.
Clinton throughout August participated in 37 private fundraising events in 11 states plus the capital city Washington, according to an AFP count. Most were on the West coast, home to Hollywood celebrities and Silicon Valley executives, or in the traditional Democratic donor bastions of Massachusetts and New York.
The minimum contribution required to attend the events varied from $500 to $250,000, with higher contributions equating to more exclusive access.
For example, at an August 20 cocktail party at the home of former Universal Studios head Frank Biondi, on the tony island of Martha’s Vineyard, about 700 people crowded under a large tent.
Also that evening, just 30 guests attended a nearby dinner hosted by Lynn Forester de Rothschild. Admission: $50,000.
In Los Angeles, it took a minimum of $33,400 to be among the 100 lunch guests at the posh home of pop star Justin Timberlake and his wife Jessica Biel, in the Hollywood hills.
Even more exclusive was the two-hour California dinner for 20 hosted by Laurene Jobs, the widow of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. Each guest contributed at least $200,000.
The legal limit for donations to a campaign during the presidential election is $2,700 per person. Larger donations are distributed among the network of state parties.
August campaign finance figures for Donald Trump, Clinton’s Republican rival, were not yet available, but the billionaire real estate tycoon has accelerated his fundraising efforts in recent months.

Manchester United want Antoine Griezmann next summer

Rumors are already starting to swirl as to who the Premier League giants may be targeting next season, including Antoine Griezmann.
The transfer window just ended, but one report suggests Manchester United is already looking to bolster its attack. According to the Bleacher Report, the Red Devils will look to bring in Antoine Griezmann.
The report goes on to say that Jose Mourinho thinks the French forward can be a long-term replacement for United Captain Wayne Rooney. The Bleacher Report also suggests the deal could happen as early as next summer.
Griezmann has been a force in front of goal since joining Atletico Madrid in 2014. He has scored 44 La Liga goals with the club, and nine more in the Champions League. The 25-year-old would undoubtedly be a major attacking threat at Old Trafford, but a huge fee would be needed to bring him in. According to transfermarkt.com, his current market value is about €80 million.
United obviously aren’t short on cash, and wouldn’t be afraid to pay up for the Frenchman. However, it doesn’t make sense for the Red Devils to sign him next summer.
The Old Trafford club already improved its attack this summer by signing Zlatan Ibrahimović and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Paul Pogba was also brought in, and is a threat to score with his head and from distance.
While it is believed Ibrahimović will only be around this season, Mourinho admitted that he could see the striker playing with United for two years.
Plus, United has a crop of young talent who are proving to be worthy of donning the red shirt. Anthony Martial was terrific in his first season at Old Trafford, and Marcus Rashford has done nothing but shine since his debut in last year’s Europa League.
United will need to find a replacement for Rooney in the coming years, but they won’t need to splash the cash to get what they’re looking for.

Bombs kill at least 12, wound dozens at Pakistan court

Two bombs killed at least 12 people and wounded dozens outside a court complex in northwest Pakistan on Friday, a rescue official said, hours after militants killed two people in a Christian neighbourhood in the same region.
Both attacks were claimed by Jamaat-ur-Ahrar, a breakaway Pakistani Taliban faction believed to be behind some of the past year's deadliest attacks, including last month's bombing of lawyers in the city of Quetta that killed 74 people.
The bodies of policemen, lawyers and other civilians were recovered, said Haris Habib, chief rescue officer in the city of Mardan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
"First there was a small blast followed by a big blast," Habib told Reuters.
The twin attacks in the northwest came one day after Pakistan's army touted the successes of its fight against myriad armed jihadist groups, though a spokesman acknowledged there was still a long way to go.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said Friday's latest bombing would "not shatter our unflinching resolve in our war against terrorism".
"These receding elements are showing frustration by attacking our soft targets. They shall not get space to hide in Pakistan," Sharif said in a statement.
Jamaat-ur-Ahrar's spokesman, Ehsanullah Ehsan, vowed to stage more attacks in a statement sent to Reuters.
"We appeal to civilians to remain away from law enforcement installations and these un-Islamic courts. We will target them more," he said.
More than 20 people were killed in an attack in December on a government office in Mardan, which was also claimed by Jamaat-ur-Ahrar.

Earlier in the day, four gunmen wearing suicide-bomb vests attacked a Christian neighbourhood in the Khyber tribal region, killing at least one security guard and a civilian resident, military officials said.
Jamaat-ur-Ahrar, which has targeted Christians in the past, claimed responsibility within hours of the attack.
The Islamist group, which briefly declared allegiance to Middle East-based Islamic State in 2014 but recently said it was no longer affiliated with them, also staged the Easter Day attack on Christians in a park in Lahore that killed 72 people including at least 29 children.
The attackers exchanged fire with security forces and were killed, the military said.
The area is near Warsak Dam, 20 km (12 miles) northwest of Peshawar.
The official said the attackers might have been attempting to enter an adjacent security installation by exploiting weaker security arrangements in the residential area.
Christians, who number around 2 million in a nation of 190 million people, have been the target of a series of attacks in recent years.

Premier League announce four-man shortlist for August’s Manager of the Month award

Hull City's caretaker manager Mike Phelan, Pep Guardiola, Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte and have all been nominated for the first of this season’s Manager of the Month award.

The Tigers had the honour of kicking off the new season as they beat reigning champions Leicester City on the opening day then followed that up a week later with a 2-0 win over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.
However, their winning run came to an end in heartbreaking fashion just before international break against United as Marcus Rashford netted the winner in injury time.
That result means the Red Devils maintained their perfect start to life under new manager Mourinho, who has also overseen comfortable victories over Bournemouth and Southampton.
Another new arrival to English football is former Juventus and Italy national team manager Antonio Conte. He has made an immediate impact at Stamford Bridge with his side securing hard-fought wins over the Hammers and Watford, before recording an easy 3-0 win over newcomers Burnley last weekend.
Two of the nominees go head-to-head in eight days time as Old Trafford host the first Manchester derby of the season, but will it be Mourinho or Guardiola that wins this award?

Health benefits of oranges

Immune system

Most citrus fruits have a good deal of vitamin C, and oranges have high levels even compared to their tangy brethren. Vitamin C protects cells by scavenging and neutralising free radicals. Free radicals may lead to chronic conditions such as cancer and heart disease. Not only may oranges help to reduce the risk of chronic conditions, but they may also boost a person’s immunity when dealing with everyday viruses and infections like the common cold.

Skin

Vitamin C also helps to keep skin looking beautiful, by helping fight against skin damage caused by the sun and pollution. It is vital to collagen production and may help to reduce wrinkles and improve the skin’s overall texture, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

Cholesterol

All the fiber in oranges may help to lower cholesterol levels, because it picks up excess cholesterol compounds in the gut and pushes them out in the elimination process.
A 2010 study  published in the journal, ‘Nutrition Research’, found that drinking orange juice for 60 days decreased low-density lipoprotein (LDL cholesterol or “bad cholesterol”) in people with high cholesterol.

Heart

Oranges contain vitamin C, fiber, potassium and choline, which are all good for your heart, so the fruits may give your ticker a big boost. Potassium, an electrolyte mineral, is vital for allowing electricity to flow through your body, which keeps your heart beating. Lack of potassium can lead to arrhythmia, an irregular heartbeat.
According to one 2012 study, people who consumed 4,069 mg of potassium each day had a 49 per cent lower risk of death from heart disease compared with those who consumed only about 1,000 mg of potassium per day.

Girl who stabbed her boyfriend 22 times wins prison beauty contest (photos)

21-year-old girl who was accused of stabbing her boyfriend 22 times and killing him after finding love messages on his phone from another lady, has been crowned Miss Langata Prison 2016.
Ruth Kamande is currently being held in remand at the prison and is facing murder charges following the death of her boyfriend Farid Ahmed over a love triangle in Buru Buru estate, Kenya in 2014.
The beauty pageant which was held on Wednesday, 31st August featured performances from local acts such as Avril Nyambura. Ruth floored her 19 other contestants to win the annual beauty contest.
A Tanzanian by the name Tina Martin emerged first runners-up. Reports indicate that she is being held at the remand facility for a drug-related crime. In third place was Susan Wairimu who is in prison after participating in a robbery and murder-related crime.

Mohammed (pictured above) sustained stab wounds on his back, stomach, chest and neck. He died in the hospital while undergoing treatment. Ruth sustained stab wounds on her stomach, right thigh and left hand during the incident.

The landlord, Mr Ndwiga Gatimu, said that he heard the deceased crying for help and went to check what was happening. She refused to open the door when the landlord arrived, this prompted him to call the police who forced the door open.

After getting into the house, the police found the deceased lying in bed in the bedroom. It is widely believed that she was driven to that extreme length after finding a love message on the man’s phone

Mark Zuckerberg's visit gives Nigerian startups much-needed boost

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg's visit to Nigeria, his first to sub-Saharan Africa, has put the country's tech businesses firmly in the world's spotlight.
Zuckerberg staged a surprise visit to the country's economic capital Lagos on Tuesday and his first stop was a local innovation center and tech hub in Yaba, an area on the mainland of Lagos known as Nigeria's Silicon Valley.
There was no fanfare amid tight security and some of those working at the Co-Creation Hub, called CcHUB, didn't even know Zuckerberg was coming.
He appeared nervous, a little startled even, as he launched into an impromptu speech about why he was there.
He said: "This is my first trip to sub-Saharan Africa. I'll be meeting with developers and entrepreneurs, and learning about the startup ecosystem in Nigeria. The energy here is amazing and I'm excited to learn as much as I can."
At the CcHUB, he talked to children at a summer coding camp and entrepreneurs who visit the center to build and launch their apps.

Zuckerberg thrilled Nigerians by walking around the streets of Lagos without any signs of armed guards or heavy security. He was also spotted jogging on the Lekki Bridge Wednesday morning.
Figures released Wednesday show Nigeria has officially dipped into recession as its second quarter GDP fell by more than 2% compared to last year.
However, running a business in the country has always been tough for young entrepreneurs such as Bosun Tijani and Femi Longe, who co-founded the hub Zuckerberg visited in 2011.
Successful startups in Nigeria thrive against the odds of weak infrastructure, anemic power supply and general lack of funding and investment.
Tijani told CNN that Zuckerberg's visit would give Nigeria's fledgling startup scene the shot in the arm it desperately needs.
"By coming here first, he's given a lot of hope to young people here," Tijani said.
He added that entrepreneurs like Zuckerberg were inspiring because his approach to Facebook has never been about making a lot of money.
"It's been about creating something that's going to change the world and obviously if you do that, you are bound to reap the benefit," Tijani said.
Idris Ayodeji Bello, an 'afropreneur' and angel investor from Nigeria, said, "Mark's visit was a much needed external validation of the sweat and immense efforts, mostly unsung, of the young Nigerians who have kept at it. And it was heartwarming to see all the attention his visit got, even from some young people who are rarely excited by much beyond music and entertainment."
Like a lot of entrepreneurs on the continent, the founders of CcHUB have been quietly plugging away before catching the attention of one of the world's biggest tech founders.
Zuckerberg singled out their business because of their proven track record in building and incubating startups that tackle the country's myriad social issues such as Lifebank, an app that locates available blood supplies and delivers it to
Another entrepreneur who met Zuckerberg was Adebayo Adegbembo, who runs Genii games, a platform to make it easier for kids to learn about African culture both in Nigeria and the diaspora. He said Zuckerberg learned a few words of Yoruba and spoke of his love of languages.
"To have Mark show that kind of interest in us is a huge stamp of approval," Adegbembo said.
Tijani and his business partner had a vision of creating a tech business district and persuaded the government and a local cable provider to install fiber optic cables on their street providing affordable and fast Wi-Fi access to anyone within the hub's vicinity.
When they started there were five tech businesses, now there are 60 and the area attracts an increasing number of entrepreneurs.
During a Q& A streamed live on Facebook on Wednesday, Zuckerberg talked about plans to make the company's tools and apps more affordable for SMEs in the country.
He added that he was proud of recently putting the Hausa language, largely spoken in northern Nigeria, on the platform and revealed plans to expand to other Nigerian languages.
Nigeria is the largest market in Africa for Facebook; 16 million Nigerians using the platform monthly, with 7 million logging onto the site daily: 97% of them on mobile, according to figures from the network.
Zuckerberg has also made no secret of his interest in Nigerian startups and other African tech industries.
In June, he invested millions of dollars in a Lagos-based startup called Andela via the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and in May he launched Free Basics, a partnership with a local telecoms provider, which allows people to browse websites for free, a very appealing prospect in a country where data prices can be prohibitively high. Although, it is not without controversy as critics have said it violates the central tenets of net neutrality, which stipulate that all Internet content and users should be treated equally. Cherry-picking free content isn't considered fair or right, according to the critics.
But it appears to be more than just the numbers stacking up for Facebook and Zuckerberg. He has said he is in the country to listen and learn and take ideas back to California on how to support businesses across the continent. He's also very interested in the creative partnerships and in exploring where tech and creativity intersect.
While in Lagos, he met with leading figures in Nigeria's Nollywood film industry and talked about how the burgeoning industry could be a huge revenue driver for the country. He said: "One of the things I am most excited about my trip to Lagos is going to check out Nollywood. Nollywood sounds like a national treasure and the ability to produce video content that is moving and emotional transcends boundaries and will help tell stories of the amazing innovation, engineering and culture to the whole world."

Understanding Solar Eclipse in Nigeria on September 1, 2016

By Professor Babatunde Rabiu

The Sun is surrounded by eight planets, each of which moves around it in paths that are known as orbits. Some of these planets including the Earth have moons that orbit them. At times, the moons come between the planets and the Sun. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partly obscuring the image of the Sun for a viewer on Earth. An annular solar eclipse occurs when the Moon’s apparent diameter is smaller than the Sun’s, blocking most of the Sun’s light and causing the Sun to look like an annulus (ring). An annular eclipse appears as a partial eclipse over a region of the Earth thousands of kilometers wide.
An annular solar eclipse will occur on September 1, 2016, lasting from 06:13–12:00 UT. A large annular eclipse will cover 97% of the Sun; it will last 3 minutes and 6 seconds at the point of maximum eclipse in East Africa. The eclipse arrives in Gabon at 07:39 UT, at which point the annular phase will last 2 minutes 52 seconds.

The eclipse then moves off over Congo and the Democratic Republic of Congo, arriving in Tanzania at 08:35 UT over Lake Tanganyika; by this time the duration of the annular phase will be up to 3 minutes and 4 seconds. The eclipse path crosses south-east over Tanzania, where the maximum eclipse of 3 minutes and 6 seconds will occur at 09:06 UT.

It then crosses into Mozambique, arriving there at 09:11 UT, and into the sea at 09:19 UT. The annular eclipse arrives at Madagascar at 09:39 UT, where the duration of the annular phase will still be over 3 minutes. It crosses Madagascar south-east, reaching the sea again at 09:51 UT.

Finally, most of Réunion will see the annular eclipse at about 10:09 UT. The partial eclipse will be visible across most of Africa and parts of the Middle East. In any particular place it will be seen for a significantly shorter duration as the shadow moves across the Earth.

As the path of totality is below Nigerian landmass, partial solar eclipse will be seen over Nigeria in spectacular version. The first view will be seen around Lagos at about 7:14:22 am with maximum eclipse occurring at about 7:26 am and terminate at about 9:52 am. 66.4 % of the Sun shall be obscured in Lagos while the eclipse shall last for 2 hrs 38 minutes. The southernmost Port-Harcourt shall have the greatest obscuration of 73.98% while the least obscuration of the Sun (44.11%) shall be recorded in Sokoto.

Different Nigerian cities, depending on the location shall experience different
percentage of Sun’s coverage and eclipse duration progressively between 7:13 am and 10:00 am. Anyigba in Kogi state, Central Nigeria, shall experience 64% obscuration of the Sun while Maiduguri shall have 46%. Statistics of the spectacular event is given in the table below for some selected locations in Nigeria.

Location Eclipse cycle in Local Time (a.m) Total Eclipse begin Maximum time End time duration:

Lagos 7:14 8:26 9:52 2 hrs 38 mins
Abuja 7:16 8:30 9:57 2 hrs 41mins
Maiduguri 7:23 8:38 10:06 2 hrs 43 mins
Sokoto 7:18 8:26 9:45 2 hrs 27 mins
Anyigba 7:16 8:30 9:59 2 hrs 43 mins
Kano 7:19 8:30 9:54 2 hrs 35 mins
Osogbo 7:15 8:27 9:53 2 hrs 38 mins
Benin City 7:15 8:29 9:57 2 hrs 43 mins
Port harcourt 7:15 8:31 10:03 2 hrs 48 mins.

The luminosity of the Sun does not permit naked eye viewing, so the Sun should always be viewed using proper solar viewing protection glasses at all stages of an eclipse. Worldwide, this Annular eclipse and accompanying partial eclipse shall end at Nigerian Local time of 11:55:54 and 12:00:40 respectively on 1st September 2016.

The next annular eclipse will be on 26th February 2017, and shall be visible in Chile, Argentina (South America), Atlantic, Africa, and Antarctica. It shall have eclipse duration of 44 seconds and magnitude of 0.992 which implies that maximum of 99.2% of the Sun shall be covered during the event. The distance between the Moon’s shadow axis and Earth’s center shall reach a minimum at 14:54:32 Universal time. This is the time when the axis of the Moon’s shadow passes closest to Earth’s center and is the time when the greatest eclipse shall occur.

Rousseff's supporters take to the streets to protest impeachment vote

Supporters of former Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff Wednesday night protested her impeachment her by setting fires, damaging property and clashing with police in Brazil's largest city, Sao Paolo.
Lawmakers voted 61-20 Wednesday to remove Rousseff from office, finding her guilty of breaking budgetary laws in an impeachment trial.
Michel Temer, Rousseff's former vice president who has been serving as interim president since her suspension in May, will assume the office of president and serve out the remainder of her term. Temer, a leader of the Brazilian Democratic Movement Party, was sworn in Wednesday afternoon.
Police lined the streets to curb the often violent demonstrations, which saw property vandalized and police vehicles damaged. Police fired tear gas at some supporters of the former leader in an attempt to quell the protests.
Temer, 75, inherits a tattered economy along with the keys to the presidential palace in Brasilia, the nation's capital.

In an attempt to bring calm to the streets and reassure ordinary Brazilians, Temer said: "This is a moment of hope, to rebuild trust in Brazil. Uncertainty has come to an end. It's time to unify the country."
The new President met with his Cabinet and promised to tackle unemployment.
"I am not saying it is an easy task, since we have almost 12 million people unemployed in this country," he said, according to a CNN translation. "It's a scary number, and there is nothing less dignified than unemployment."
A general election is scheduled for 2018.
Wednesday's vote marked the culmination of a contentious impeachment process that has dragged on for months. It's a political crisis that ordinary Brazilians could do well without as the country, which just hosted the Summer Olympics in Rio, is trying to pull itself out of recession.
While Brazil's first female president is out of a job, but not barred from the ballot if she wants to run again -- a motion to bar her from holding any public office for the next eight years failed.
Rousseff, 68, a former Marxist guerrilla, said earlier this week that she had committed no crime and said she was proud she'd been "faithful to my commitment to the nation."
Sen. Lindbergh Farias of the Workers' Party made an impassioned plea against Rousseff's impeachment.
"This is a farce. This is a pretext. This is absolutely irrelevant. There are two types of senators, the one that know there was no crime of responsibility and vote against the impeachment and those that know there was no crime of responsibility and vote in favor," he said, shouting from the Senate floor.
Sen. Ronaldo Caiado of the Democrats argued that Rousseff should be ousted, saying that lawmakers weren't the ones behind the impeachment process.
"It began because 90% of the population has said loudly, no more (Workers' Party)," he said.
The heir to former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Rousseff was re-elected by a narrow margin in 2014, but a recession and a cross-party corruption scandal put an end to any political goodwill she might have earned, eventually leading to her ouster.
A statement from the spokesman for Ban Ki-moon said the U.N. Secretary-General had "taken note" of the impeachment process and Temer's swearing in.
"The Secretary-General extends his best wishes to President Temer as he begins his tenure," the statement said. "He trusts that under President Temer's leadership, Brazil and the United Nations will continue their traditional close partnership."

Welcome back, David Luiz!

Chelsea have re-signed their former defender David Luiz from Paris Saint-Germain on a three-year contract.
Chelsea, who had earlier seen a reported £35m offer for the 29-year-old turned down, confirmed on Wednesday evening that they had agreed terms with PSG.
He was the second defender to move to the club on deadline day, with Marcos Alonso joining from Fiorentina on a five-year contract in a deal reportedly worth around £23 million.
Luiz had first joined Chelsea from Benfica in 2011 and the Brazil international won the FA Cup, Champions League and Europa League during his initial spell at Stamford Bridge.
"I'm delighted to return to Chelsea," he told the club's official website. "We had a fantastic story during my first time at the club and I want to help the team and Antonio Conte achieve a lot of success.
"I always had a wonderful relationship with the fans and I am looking forward to wearing the blue shirt at Stamford Bridge once again."
Luiz moved to the Parc des Princes from Chelsea for £50 million in the summer of 2014 and started all four of the French champions' competitive fixtures so far this season.
However, earlier this month Le Parisien reported that new coach Unai Emery had told the player he was no longer guaranteed a starting role.
Meanwhile, Chelsea's United States defender Matt Miazga has joined Vitesse Arnhem on loan until the end of the season.

“His Royal Highness Igwe Oduah 1 betrothed Stella Oduah to me on 18th November 1984 in Akili Ozizor. We married on the 16th of December 1984 in His Highness`s Palace in Akili Ozizor. After the payment of dowry and exchange of gifts, we were taken to Nde-Mili where we performed the final rites. I am surprised to see in the internet stories that my son Maxwell Omabuwa Temisanre Obiechina Wereyesigha Toritseju Chinedu Etoromi who Stella delivered for us on 14th March 1988 at 05.00 hour in St Mary`s Hospital Ugboroke Warri is dead”, the bereaved father said in the letter.

He alleged that up till now, his enstranged wife had not contacted him on the death of their son only for her to commence preparation to bury him last Friday in her home town.

“Up till now Stella has not told me my son died in her custody. There is rumour that my son will be buried in Akili Ozizor. That is not acceptable at all. My son must be brought to me in Warri for internment”, he lamented.
In the letter which was copied to  Most Reverend Valerian Okeke, The Arch-Bishop of Onitsha, and the Parish Priest, Father, Donald Uzoh of Sacred Heart Parish, the bereaved father insisted that his late son must be returned for proper burial in his father’s place.

Chief Etoromi explained to the monarch that the stories needed not be told now,  but his grief about his son's death was too much to bear, hence he is reacting this way.

2 Canadian women busted with cocaine worth $22m in Australia while on worldwide cruise

Two Canadian women 23-year-old Melina Roberge and 28-year-old Isabelle Lagacé, who were on a dream world wide cruise were on Monday arrested by the police in Australia, according to a release by the Australian authorities. Authorities say approximately 95 kilograms of cocaine were allegedly found in the suitcases of the two friends and another Canadian man, 63-year-old man, Andre Tamine who was travelling with them when they arrived in Sydney on a cruise ship. All three were arrested in Australia.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the value of the drugs was $30 million Australian dollars, which is about $22 million in U.S. dollars.
The bust came on the 51st day of a 68-day cruise on the Sea Princess, reports the Sydney Morning Herald. The Star states authorities were prepared to search the ship when it arrived in Sydney after a joint investigation which included the Canadian Border Service Agency and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

They were aboard the MS Sea Princess cruise. Tickets for the MS Sea Princess cruise cost around £8,500
They shared photos from exotic locales around the world including Tahiti, Peru, Bermuda, Morocco and more. "Traveling is one thing ... But traveling with an open mind, ready to taste everything, see everything, learn everything and get yourself out of your comfort zone .. Is probably the best therapy and lesson ever," Roberge wrote in one post from the holiday.

The women had spent the past two months cruising around the world and documenting their lavish holiday on their public Instagram accounts. According to Facebook accounts that appear to belong to them, Lagacé was a waitress at a Longueuil bar and Roberge was a manager at a Montreal jewelry store. According to their Instagram accounts, they began their adventure on July 9 in Southampton, England.
Clive Murray from the Australian Border Forces said the bust came after work alongside US and Canadian authorities.
He said:

"These syndicates should be on notice that the Australian Border Force is aware of all of the different ways they attempt to smuggle drugs into our country and we are working with a range of international agencies to stop them."

AFP Assistant Commissioner Crime Operations Shane Connelly said:
"Today’s successful operation has resulted in three arrests and we will not rule out further activity as we continue our investigations. "The AFP is committed to working with its partner agencies to protect the community by stopping these dangerous drugs making their way to Australian communities, and bringing those responsible to justice."
The trio have been charged with importing drugs and are due in court this week and now face life imprisonment if convicted of drug smuggling in Australia, where cocaine prices are among the highest in the world.
