After 3 Months Together, Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston Break Up

Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston have broken up after three months together, PEOPLE confirms.

"It was an amicable split," a source tells PEOPLE.

The breakup comes after Swift and Hiddleston haven't been photographed together in over a month. On July 27, the couple hit up the restaurant Hillstone in Santa Monica for a date night.

Shortly after, the pair were separated by the Pacific Ocean for a spell while the English actor filmed the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok in Australia. Then, PEOPLE last reported on the couple reuniting in mid-August when they "enjoyed a quiet weekend at her Rhode Island home. Taylor sent her plane to pick up Tom before the weekend."
The relationship between the pop star, 26, and Avengers actor, 35, went public on June 15, when photos of the couple frolicking on the beach in Rhode Island hit the Internet.

A whirlwind romance followed next. Within weeks, the pair met each other's parents, celebrated July 4th together at Swift's annual star-studded bash and jet set around the world, enjoying PDA-filled trips to Italy, Australia and everything in between.

From the beginning, Swift and Hiddleston remained mostly mum about their budding romance – but in July, The Night Manager star did address pop culture conspiracy theorists questioning the authenticity of their relationship.

"Look, the truth is that Taylor Swift and I are together, and we're very happy," Hiddleston told The Hollywood Reporter, finally confirming their relationship. "That's the truth. It's not a publicity stunt."
Swift and Hiddleston were first seen getting flirty at the Met Gala in New York in May, after an Instagram video of them dancing together to T.I.'s 2004 hit "Bring 'Em Out" went viral.

At the time of the Met Gala, Swift was still dating ex Calvin Harris; PEOPLE exclusively broke the news of Swift and Harris' split on June 1, and multiple sources told PEOPLE there was no cheating involved.

Calvin Harris fails to mention ex Taylor Swift after winning VMA for song she co-wrote

Calvin Harris took home the Moonman at the MTV Video Music Awards for Best Male Video for the mainstream hit "This Is What You Came For," which features vocals by Rihanna and was secretly co-written by his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift.
Harris, who was a no-show at Sunday's awards show, taped a thank-you message that was played for the Madison Square Garden crowd.
"Wow, wow! First of all, I'm so sorry I can't be there. I have a show tonight in the U.K. otherwise I would definitely be there. MTV, this is crazy," the 32-year-old Scottish DJ-music producer began his video message, before thanking RiRi. "I need to thank Rihanna from the bottom of my heart. You're a superstar. Every time we work together you bring something so magical to the project, so thank you."
Harris also took a moment to single out music video director Emil Nava for his creative vision, but avoided any mention of Swift, who co-wrote the song under the pen name Nils Sjoberg. In July, Swift's rep confirmed to ET that she had contributed both writing and vocals to the track.

"And everybody who supported this song, who watched this video, I love you so much. Thank you, this is amazing. I love you. Thank you MTV!" he ended his message.
ET was on the scene at the VMAs, and following Harris' win, boos were heard from the audience, though it wasn't clear if it was because he skipped the awards show or didn't give Swift recognition for her creative involvement with the song.
Fans took to Twitter to react to Harris' presumed shade at the 26-year-old singer.
"Taylor Swift somewhere trying to think of ways to sue Calvin Harris," one fan wrote.
"Calvin Harris NOT thanking Taylor Swift in his acceptance speech is objectively the most petty/amazing thing I have seen," another added.
Later in the awards show, Kanye West addressed the phone call he made to Swift before releasing the controversial song, "Famous," which prompted an impromptu "Taylor! Taylor!" chant in the audience.
Harris and Swift, who is now dating British actor Tom Hiddleston, broke up in June after one year of dating.

Beyonce dominated the MTV Video Music Awards 2016

Beyonce accepts an award from U.S. Olympic gymnastic team

Beyonce was the big winner at last night's MTV VMAs in New York.
The singer scooped seven awards in total including the prestigious prize for video of the year for the track Formation.
"First of all I'd like to thank my beautiful daughter and my incredible husband for all of their support," she said during one acceptance speech.
Held annually, the VMAs, rewards musicians for their visual efforts.
This year's ceremony was held at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Beyonce, who was nominated for eight awards, also went home with the prize for Best Female Video, Best Direction and Best Cinematography.
She was presented with one of her awards by four members of the U.S. Olympic gymnastics team.

The 34-year-old rounded off an impressive night with a 16 minute medley of songs taken from her latest album, Lemonade.
Other winners included Calvin Harris, Fifth Harmony and Drake.

David Bowie meanwhile was posthumously rewarded, the late singer's album Blackstar won the Best Art Direction accolade.
Rihanna was honoured on the night with the, Michael Jackson Vanguard Award, which recognizes an artist's entire catalogue of work.
Canadian rapper Drake presented Rihanna with her trophy.
The singer smiled nervously when he declared; "She's someone I've been in love with since I was 22 years old. She's one of my best friends in the world.
"All of my adult life I've looked up to her even though she's younger than me."
The pair have collaborated on numerous occasions and there have been suggestions that their relationship hasn't always been purely business-related.
Drake was so proud of Rihanna that he decided it was worthy of a billboard advert.

Completing a star-studded night of music were performances from Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj and Britney Spears.

Organisers of this year's event will be thankful it was largely uneventful.
The VMAs have a history of throwing up some controversial moments.
It was the scene of Kanye West's now infamous rant where he interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech in 2009.
In 2010, Lady Gaga wore a dress made entirely of raw beef.
She later explained; "If we don't stand up for what we believe in and if we don't fight for our rights, pretty soon we're going to have as much rights as the meat on our bones."
