The preference for male children over female ones in African culture
will be in focus in the episode seven of the Glo-sponsored T.V drama
series, Professor Johnbull. This episode of the popular sitcom attempts
to examine what factors make some in the society to believe the male
child is superior to the girl child.
Titled Baby Bomboi, the
episode takes a potshot at the unscientific act of discriminating
against the girl-child and the dangers such practice portend in the
society. Does the gender of a child determine the child’s future? Under
the same tutelage, what is the guarantee that the male child will fare
any better?
