Blaise Matuidi ‘very disappointed’ to stay at PSG – agent

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi is “very disappointed” by the Ligue 1 champions’ refusal to let him leave the club this summer according to the France international’s agent, Mino Raiola.
The powerful representative, who oversaw the summer transfers of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba and Mario Balotelli — to name just a few of a his most recognisable clients — said that Matuidi, 29, was “taken off the market” by PSG.
Raiola added that the French giants’ decision to not sell one of their longest-serving players was a “surprise” but hinted that the move could be resurrected in the future.
“[Matuidi] is very disappointed to have been taken off of the market by PSG,” Raiola told Premium Sport. “Now we will talk with the club and see. We are all surprised by their withdrawal from negotiations.”
Juventus pursued Matuidi as a replacement for international teammate Pogba, who returned to Manchester United after a successful four-year spell in Turin for a world record €105 million fee.
The former AS Saint-Etienne and ESTAC Troyes man had been expected to leave Parc des Princes this summer after being linked with a number of English Premier League clubs before Juventus joined the chase.
However, new PSG coach Unai Emery repeatedly stated his desire to see the man from Toulouse stay in Paris, while club chairman and CEO, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, echoed the Basque tactician’s sentiments.
Once Juventus’ move for the Frenchman collapsed, they turned their attentions to Zenit Saint Petersburg’s Belgium international midfielder Axel Witsel instead.
The Italian champions’ move for the 27-year-old fell through late on Transfer Deadline Day and he will now have to wait until his contract expires next summer before moving to Juventus Stadium to join the Bianconeri.
France coach Didier Deschamps admitted Matuidi “can’t be enjoying this situation” when questioned about the player’s happiness under Emery ahead of Les Bleus’ 3-1 away win over Italy in Bari on Thursday.
Matuidi must now try to impress the Spaniard sufficiently to win his starting role back ahead of the likes of Thiago Motta, Marco Verratti, Adrien Rabiot, Grzegorz Krychowiak, Christopher Nkunku and Lorenzo Callegari, as well as Javier Pastore who can move into central midfield when asked.

Lai Mohammed Slams PDP 'You are Armed robber sympathising with the victim,"

The minister said Nigeria would not have been in its present depleted state if the Jonathan administration did not mismanage the country's resources.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has referred to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the armed robber who is "now the one sympathising with the victim."
Reacting to the party's call for the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari over the current economic recession in the country, the minister said Nigeria would not have been in its present depleted state if the immediate past administration did what ought to have been done.

He stated this in Abuja on Friday , September 2,  at a forum with the News Agency of Nigeria.
Mohammed said: “While we are not going to indulge in blame game, I think we should also be honest enough to admit that we will not have been where we are today if they had done what they ought to do.
“For the party to ask the President to resign is just a big joke.
“Agreed that Nigeria is not the only country hit by the recession and crash in price of crude, but other countries made savings.
“Saudi Arabia today has about $600 billion in reserve and this is by planning and saving for the future, which the past administration failed to do during surplus.
“This is not about blaming other administration, but we believe that one should be honest when criticising.”
The minister, however, assured Nigerians that the Federal Government will do everything possible to bring the country out of the economic situation.

After reading this, coupled with the economy situation of the country, one will have no doubt to conclude that the APC-led government in Nigeria is incompetent

Diego Costa responds to Spanish media: ‘If I was a natural Spaniard my critics would say I had a good game’

Diego Costa believes he is unfairly criticised by the Spanish media and feels it happens because he is not Spanish by birth and does not play for Real Madrid or Barcelona.
An injury to Álvaro Morata saw Costa come off the bench in the first half of Spain’s 2-0 win away at Belgium in an international friendly on Thursday, and shortly after coming on he provided the lay-off for David Silva’s opening goal.

The 27-year-old has scored just one goal in 11 appearances for Spain since switching nationalities from his native Brazil in 2014, but defended his performance against Belgium.
“They criticise me a lot and if I played for Real Madrid or Barça and was a natural Spaniard they’d say I had a good game, possibly my best for the team,” Costa said on Thursday.
“I didn’t score but I can be useful to the team. I participated a lot in the game and I leave here happy, unlike in other games.“
Costa has had disciplinary breaches with his club Chelsea, including being banned for three games for stamping on Liverpool’s Emre Can last year, but has largely kept out of trouble while representing Spain.

“I haven’t done great things for Spain, I can’t lie, but when I play well they should say so. They criticise me for my character, but I also have quality,” said Costa.
Silva scored the second goal against Belgium from the penalty spot to round off a comfortable 2-0 win in coach Julen Lopetegui’s first game in charge since succeeding Vicente del Bosque.
Lopetegui recalling Costa after Del Bosque left him out of the squad for Euro 2016 was one of a number of eye-catching decisions the new coach made in his first squad announcement, including dropping the former captain Iker Casillas.
Spain begin their qualifying campaign for the 2018 World Cup at home to Liechtenstein on Monday and Costa said he is optimistic about his and the team’s fortunes under the former Porto and Spain Under-21 coach.
“A new era has started. I have faith in my team mates,” said Costa. “It’s true that I have unfinished business with scoring but today I felt good and the goals will come.
“I’d be more concerned if I didn’t have chances, but the team is creating them and that’s good. I will score soon.”

Bastian Schweinsteiger left out of Manchester United’s Europa League squad

Bastian Schweinsteiger has been omitted from Manchester United’s squad for the Europa League group stage.
The 32-year-old was this week named in United’s Premier League squad but he will be ineligible to play in Europe after being excluded from the 27-man list submitted to Uefa.
Schweinsteiger has yet to make an appearance under new boss José Mourinho, who has told the midfielder it will be “very difficult” to give him any playing time this season.
The German stated on the eve of his 121st and final international appearance on Tuesday that it was his “absolute dream” to help Manchester United to glory this season. But the latest exclusion will come as a blow to a player who has reportedly been forced to train with the reserves in the early stages of the new campaign.
Teenage defenders Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Axel Tuanzebe, who has yet to make his first-team debut, were included in the squad published on Uefa’s website for the group stage, which Mourinho’s men begin with a trip to Feyenoord on 15 September.
Manchester United’s Europa League squad for the 2016-17 group stage: David de Gea, Sergio Romero, Sam Johnstone, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo, Chris Smalling, Luke Shaw, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Antonio Valencia, Matteo Darmian, Axel Tuanzebe, Paul Pogba, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, Michael Carrick, Daley Blind, Ashley Young, Ander Herrera, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Marouane Fellaini, Morgan Schneiderlin, Memphis Depay, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford.

Uzbekistan prepares to bury veteran leader Islam Karimov

Uzbekistan has started three days of mourning as it buries its president, Islam Karimov, who spent 27 years in power.
Thousands of Uzbeks lined up along Tashkent’s main thoroughfare at dawn on Saturday as Karimov’s funeral cortege made its way through the city.
Karimov, who died on Friday at the age of 78 after suffering a stroke, will be buried later in the day in his hometown of Samarkand, about 300 km (185 miles) southwest of the capital.
The veteran leader has run the Central Asian nation since 1989 and nearly half of Uzbekistan’s 32 million citizens were born while he was in power.

Many mourners held flowers, mostly red roses, which they laid on the road as the funeral train, which set out at 6am (0100 GMT) drove by on its way to the airport.
“What are we going to do without you?” a weeping mourner shouted.
A 39-year-old Tashkent resident who declined to be identified said: “This was the longest and hardest week in my life ... Still can’t believe it happened. Don’t know what happens now, I am lost.”
“Only as the cortege drove by I realised who we had lost,” said Usmon, 55, a teacher.
“I am in deep grief.”
In Samarkand, his coffin will be displayed in a city square from 9am for people to pay their last respects before being buried in a nearby cemetery, Russian news agencies reported, citing local officials.
Prime minister Shavkat Mirziyoyev has been designated mourner-in-chief at Karimov’s funeral, which is seen as a strong hint he might become the next president.
Russian prime minister Dmitry Medvedev is expected to fly in for the funeral, along with a coterie of leaders from former Soviet republics including Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov and the prime ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
The Kremlin’s top political adviser, Yuri Ushakov, said Russia expects the political situation in Uzbekistan to remain stable after the death of Karimov.

Sergio Agüero to miss Manchester derby after receiving three-match ban

Sergio Agüero has been found guilty of violent conduct and will miss the derby with Manchester United on 10 September, the first match of a three-game ban.
Manchester City had appealed against the charge and argued that if the striker was found guilty he should receive less than a three-game ban because, they said, cases involving a greater degree of violence had met with that punishment.
Yet the Football Association’s three-person independent commission decided the forward was guilty and merited the standard suspension. He will miss the derby at Old Trafford, plus the visit of Bournemouth on 17 September and the EFL Cup trip to Swansea City four days later.
The charge relates to City’s 3-1 victory over West Ham United on Sunday when Agüero appeared to elbow Winston Reid. An FA statement read: “The Manchester City forward was involved in a 76th-minute incident with West Ham United’s Winston Reid on Sunday, which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video.
“The club denied the charge and submitted further that, if it was to be found proven, the standard punishment would be clearly excessive. On finding the charge proven at a hearing today, an independent regulatory commission went on to reject the club’s further claim to decrease the three-match ban.”
The loss of Agüero is a considerable blow to City and Pep Guardiola. The manager has guided the team to an impressive start in which they have won their first five matches. Agüero, who has featured four times, has scored six goals, three in the Premier League to help City to the top of the table. The Argentinian has also registered eight times in derbies, the club’s third-highest tally.
Yaya Touré has been left out of City’s Champions League squad by Guardiola. Touré has played once this season, in City’s 1-0 win over Steaua Bucharest in the Champions League play-off round second leg, but that game was virtually meaningless because City led 5-0 from the first leg.
Leroy Sané and Ilkay Gündogan, who were bought this summer but have yet to play because of injury, are included in the 25-man squad for the group stage. City will face Barcelona, Celtic and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Touré’s exclusion is a further signal his City career is effectively over, just as Joe Hart’s loan move to Torino after being dropped by Guardiola seems to have ended the goalkeeper’s time at the club. Touré’s contract expires next summer.
City may face a United defence which is below full-strength at Old Trafford because Antonio Valencia’s late return from the international break could force José Mourinho into using Phil Jones, Matteo Darmian or Timothy Fosu-Mensah at right-back despite none having played this season.
Valencia is away with Ecuador but does not return until next Friday, the day before City’s visit. The match will kick-off at 12.30pm, further shortening the time Valencia has to recover. Argentina’s Marcos Rojo and Sergio Romero are also expected to be late back.

Nigeria Economy in Recession: What it Means

In economics, a recession is a period of negative economic growth; a period of temporary economic decline during which trade and industrial activity are reduced. While discussing recession, macroeconomics, which is a branch of economic study that deals with the performance, structure, and decision making of the economy, is brought into focus.
In a period of recession, macroeconomic indicators such as GDP (Gross Domestic Product), investment spending, household income, business profits, and inflation fall, while bankruptcies and unemployment rate rise. In addition, recession is generally experienced when there is a widespread decline in spending, triggered by the nation’s financial crisis and an adverse supply shock – i.e. when a sudden change in price of a commodity affects the equilibrium price of goods and services). With that said, it is however, sad to conclude that Nigeria is in this state of economic tragedy.
While economists proffer solutions for this state of economic growth, such as the government adopting expansionary macroeconomic policies by increasing money supply and government expenditure, and also through decreasing taxation, one will have to wonder if Nigeria government is capable and ready to go through with them, given their proven incompetence in these economic matters and the sad fact that Nigeria has a reputation for being one of the countries in the world with bad governance.
However, Nigeria government can choose to solve this problem of recession if it employs the services of master brains and economists who can both theoretically and practically analyse the economy situation of the nation. But I’m afraid they will be too busy with sentimental politics that serious national matters as this are often treated over political merriment and with absolute levity.

I am impressed by your simplicity – Buhari tells Zuckerberg

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday commended the Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of social networking website, Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, for sharing his wealth of knowledge with Nigerian youths, and inspiring a new generation of entrepreneurs.
According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the President spoke while granting audience to Zuckerberg at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Buhari said the various meetings held with Nigerian youths since his arrival in the country were most timely as the country was already exploring opportunities to spur development through entrepreneurship.
He said, “Nigeria has always been identified as a country with great potential for growth, especially with our youthful population, but now we are moving beyond the potential to reality.
“I am impressed by your simplicity in sharing your knowledge and wealth with those with less income.”
The President noted that the simplicity and magnanimity of the entrepreneur, who is among the world’s richest men, had also challenged the culture of lavish wealth display and impulsive spending that had become peculiar to Nigerians.
“In our culture, we are not used to seeing successful people appear like you. We are not used to seeing successful people jogging and sweating on the streets.
“We are more used to seeing successful people in air-conditioned places. We are happy you are well-off and simple enough to always share,” he said.
In his remarks, Zuckerberg said he was impressed by the interest, energy and entrepreneurial spirit displayed by young Nigerians in all the ICT camps that he had visited.
“I was highly impressed by the talent of the youths in the Co-creation Hub in Yaba. I was blown away by their talent and the level of energy that I saw,’’ he said.
Zuckerberg added that he is in the country to promote the penetration of “fast and cheap” internet connectivity, Express-wifi, that would help people create online businesses and reduce poverty.

ASUU Calls For Release Of Funds and Delayed Salaries

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has called for the immediate release of 495 billion Naira Revitalisation Funds for universities, implementation of the 2009 ASUU/FGN Agreement and MOU of 2013 as well as the payment of Earned Academic Allowances.

The Union is also demanding that the government resolves the issue of payment of salaries in fractions which it began since December 2015 and the registration of NUPEMCO among other problems.
The ASUU Zonal Coordinator, Professor Nsing Ogar, represented by University of Calabar chairperson, Dr. Tony Eyang, made the call while briefing Journalists in Calabar on some disturbing developments faced by Campuses.
According to him, a huge cloud of uncertainty hangs over the University system in the country due to a number of unresolved issues which if not resolved, will hinder the growth and development of Universities across the country.
The Unical ASUU boss said, six months in 2013, ASUU waged a struggle for the revitalisation of the universities through the implementation of the 2009 agreement and up till now, it is saddening that, there has been no indication of seriousness on the part of the Federal Government to honour the MOU reached.
He further disclosed that, government’s unilateral proscription of the Post-UTME test is another issue causing so much tension at the moment which according to the Union, rubs the University of its autonomy and the responsibility of determining and controlling the quality of people for admission.
He maintained that, the cancellation of the Post-UTME test without consulting critical stakeholders, Vice Chancellors and University administrators is an unhelpful and regrettable action that has to be reversed.

Victoria Beckham was drunk when she met David Beckham, but it was Love at First Sight

Former singer, businesswoman, fashion designer, and mother of four, Victoria Beckham has written an emotional letter to her 18 year old self in which she revealed she was drunk when she met her footballer husband, David Beckham. She writes in the new October issue of Vogue:

“I know you are struggling right now. You are not the prettiest, or the thinnest, or the best at dancing at the Laine Theatre Arts college. You have never properly fitted in, although you are sharing your Surrey school digs with really nice girls. You have bad acne.
“You think the Principal has put you at the back of the end-of-year show (in a humiliatingly bright purple Lycra leotard) because you are too plump to go at the front. (This may or may not be true.)”
She continues:
“You are going to have so much fun with your clothes – PVC catsuits; chokers that say absurd things; weird spiky blonde hair. It will never occur to you that you appear ridiculous. You will turn up at awards ceremonies resembling a drag queen. But I look back at you and smile. It will add interest to your life to go from one extreme to another. I love the fact that you will feel free to express yourself.”
“Learn more about football, especially the offside rule. And yes, love at first sight does exist. It will happen to you in the Manchester United players’ lounge – although you will get a little drunk, so exact details are hazy.
“While the other football players stand at the bar drinking with their mates, you will see David standing aside with his family. (He’s not even in the first team at this stage – you are the famous one.)  And he has such a cute smile. You, too, are close to your family, and you will think how similar he feels to you. He’s going to ask for your number. (He still has the London-to-Manchester plane ticket on which you wrote it.)”

Woman who had sex with her husband every day for a full year reveals lessons she's learnt

Brittany Gibbons previously had issues with her body image and confidence. However, has revealed the marriage saving benefits that she's gotten ever since she engaged in an experiment with her husband to have sex everyday for a full year non-stop.
“Shortly after having my third child, I remember getting out of the shower, catching a glimpse of myself in the mirror, and wondering, ‘Who let my mom in here?
“From that point on, I didn’t let myself be naked.” she explained.
Brittany from that point on never undressed fully, even when she wanted to have sex with her husband, Andy.
But when she got worried that her husband Andy wouldn’t be able to remember what her body looked like, a friend told her when she was faced with such a problem too she decided to have sex everyday for a full year.
Brittany decided to do the same, in the hope it’d make her confront her body issues and self confidence.
“Andy, as expected, was on board,” she said. And for a whole year, save for being parted by travel or the stomach flu, we had sex with each other.”
At first the sex adventure seemed like a chore, but as time wore on Brittany started getting used to it, looked forward to having sex and started feeling free to walk around naked at home.
“I was no longer hyper-aware of the sounds my curvy body was making,” she said. Like the way my thighs clapped together or my tummy smacked his.”
This happened three years ago, but Brittany says things are going on well now  and that even though they might not be hooking up every night, their marriage is as strong as ever.
“I’ll admit, my pelvis and thighs welcomed the rest,” she laughed.

Jesus Salvaged Brazil

Brazil secure an impressive win over Ecuador in the thin air of Quito, which is situated a dizzying 2,850 meters (9,350 feet) above sea level.
Brazil had never won a qualifying game in the Ecuadoran capital before, but two goals from teenage prodigy Gabriel Jesus and a penalty from Neymar handed the five-time world champions a 3-0 victory.
Jesus, the 19-year-old who signed for English side Manchester City from Palmeiras in August, was outstanding, underscoring his status as the brightest talent in Brazilian football.
Jesus won the penalty for the first goal after bursting into the area and drawing a foul from Ecuador goalkeeper Alexander Dominguez.
Neymar duly converted before Jesus doubled Brazil’s lead three minutes from time with a sublime flicked finish from Marcelo’s low cross to make it 2-0.
Jesus, who like Neymar had played in Brazil’s gold medal-winning Olympic football campaign, then added a third in stoppage time with a crisp finish into the top corner.
The win left Brazil in fifth place overall in the standings with 12 points from seven games.
In other matches on Thursday, Colombia defeated Venezuela 2-0 in their port city stronghold of Barranquilla.
Goals from Real Madrid star James Rodriguez and Macnelly Torres secured the points for Colombia, who would have won by more had it not been for two missed penalties in the final 10 minutes.
The win leaves Colombia level with Ecuador and Uruguay on 13 points, just behind leaders Argentina.
Paraguay meanwhile are level on 12 points with Brazil after scoring a stormy 2-1 win over South American champions Chile in Asuncion.
Oscar Romero and Paulo da Silva fired Paraguay 2-0 up after only nine minutes before Arturo Vidal pulled a goal back just before half-time.
A fractious second half ended with Chile defender Gary Medel being sent off in the closing stages as Paraguay held on.
In the day’s other game, Bolivia defeated Peru 2-0 in La Paz.
