President Muhammadu Buhari
Speaking
in Katsina on Monday, May 9 during his visit to the Emir of Katsina,
Alhaji Abdulmumuni Kabiru Usman, President Buhari commented on the fear
of Nigeria breaking-up because of ongoing crisis.
According to him, the call became very important due to some activities of several groups preaching hatred, disunity and divisive tendencies among the populace for selfish gains.
President Buhari tasked leaders with the responsibility of being honest and straightforward in their dealings with the people so that the younger ones in the society can be well brought up, Vanguard reports.
President Buhari urged traditional rulers to fight against the unrest and champion the cause for peaceful and harmonious co-existence among the diverse socio-political groups in the country.
The president has now called on all Nigerians to ignore such individuals or groups calling for the country’s break-up, narrating that over two million people died during the last civil war in Nigeria.
