According to report, acting President Yemi Osinbajo
has lobbied the leadership National Assembly, urging for the quick
passage of the 2017 budget into law
This was disclosed in a statement by the spokesman of the acting president Laolu Akande.
According to Akande,
a meeting was held
between Osinbajo, the Senate President Bukola Saraki, the Speaker of the
House of Representatives Yakubo Dogara, members of the President
Muhammadu Buhari’s Economic Management Team at the official residence of
the acting president, Aguda house, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja
Wednesday night, February 22.
Akande
said the meeting discussed issues and developments around the 2017
budget, while both sides also exchanged ideas and compared notes in
order to ensure that this year’s budget passage process is better and
faster than previous times.
He said: “During the meeting,
held in a convivial atmosphere, there were also discussions on the need
to ensure that key projects of the federal government aimed at enhancing
the speedy recovery of the Nigerian economy are well taken care of in
the appropriations that will now emerge from the Legislative arm of
government to the Presidency.”
The
meeting which lasted about an hour also featured discussions on the

Meanwhile, Osinbajo on Wednesday, February 22, had the pleasure of receiving General Waldhauser, Commander of the US-Africa Command and Hon. Symington at the Aso Villa.
At the meeting, General
Waldhauser expressed the readiness of the US government to accelerate
its contributions to the war on terrorism.
