PSG lost 8million fans after Ibrahimovic left for United – Blomqvist

Jesper Blomqvist has claimed that Paris Saint-Germain “lost eight million supporters”, after Zlatan Ibrahimovic joined Manchester United this summer.
Ibrahimovic left the Ligue 1 champions at the end of last season after four years and signed for the Premier League side as a free agent.
Blomqvist, also a former Sweden international, says PSG have lost more than just a player.
“He is one of the biggest personalities in Sweden,” Blomqvist told the Sun.
“He has launched his own perfume, Volvo cars and his own sports clothing range. He is his own brand. He is everywhere even though he has stopped playing for the national team.
“I work a lot with travel companies in Sweden coming over to Manchester. The interest is just triple. Zlatan is so big in Sweden. I think PSG have lost eight million supporters in Sweden and now they are all Manchester United. Not all but it is like that.
“More planes come over, they sell a lot more tickets to the United games. I have done it every now and then for a couple of years. Now there are 10 times more calls from companies who want me to come over with the supporters.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic happy with Anfield draw

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was happy with Manchester United’s 0-0 draw at Liverpool on Monday, and insists his side remain in the running for the Premier League title.
It was a closely-contested game of few chances at Anfield, but David de Gea had to be at his best to deny Emre Can and Philippe Coutinho in the second-half as Liverpool ended the game with 65 per cent possession against a stubborn United side.
Ibrahimovic fluffed is lines with United’s best chance, failing to convert Paul Pogba’s cross with a header, but the former Sweden international was content to take a point back to Manchester.
“I think it was a good result, after the second half, the chances they had,” Ibrahimovic told Sky Sports.
“First half we did what we needed to do. Second half we did it less. It opened up more for them. They had more chances than they did in the first half.”
Ibrahimovic remains upbeat about United’s long-term prospects, as Jose Mourinho looks to re-establish the club’s credentials as challengers for key trophies.
“We will still work and we can do much more. We are working hard and we are getting there,” Ibrahimovic added.
“The season is long. Many teams are losing points at the same time. Any week different things can happen. You need to win games [but] if you win two games in a row you are near the top. That’s the way it has been so far.
“It’s a long season, the competition is long, it’s not easy. We are fighting, we are training hard so we just need to click – then it will be easier.”
On his own spurned chance he admitted: “It was difficult…but I should have at least got it on target. But I was there, that’s the important thing and next time I will do better.”

José Mourinho criticises players and Mark Clattenburg after derby loss

José Mourinho questioned whether some of his players were able to cope with the pressures of the Manchester derby, accusing them of “really poor individual performances” after a 2-1 defeat that finished with him heavily criticising the referee, Mark Clattenburg, as well as his own team.
Mourinho was incensed that Clattenburg did not award his team a penalty and show a red card to Claudio Bravo after Manchester City’s new goalkeeper, at fault for Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s goal, dived into a challenge on Wayne Rooney 11 minutes into the second half.
However, the Manchester United manager also turned on his own players for the first time since taking the job in the summer. Henrikh Mkhitaryan was substituted at half-time on his first start since signing from Borussia Dortmund. Jesse Lingard was also substituted during the interval but Mourinho said there were other players who had performed badly.
“I didn’t change after 20 minutes because I didn’t want to destroy the players,” Mourinho said. “I didn’t want to make three changes at half-time, but if it was a sport with a free number of changes I would have done it after 20 minutes. I made a couple of decisions [with the starting lineup] because I thought the individual qualities of certain players would give me what I wanted. But I didn’t get it.
“But it is not just about them. We lost the ball very easily. Even our central defenders [Eric Bailly and Daley Blind], who were top-class until today, lost easy balls. What I told them at half-time was: ‘For some of you, it looks like you are trying to do what I told you not to do.’ I had told the players 20 times never to play a first-station ball – ‘never, because they [City] want to press, so never do that’ – and they did it 20 times.
“I think some of the boys felt the dimension of the game. Everything around the game – the derby, the big game, Man United, Man City, the focus, the attention. Some of the guys, they felt it. But it had nothing to do with inexperience or age because we have the kid [Marcus Rashford] in the second half and the kid looked like he was playing in the under-18s against Salford City. It’s about the individual and how everyone reacts to the dimension of the occasion in different ways. It’s difficult to predict.”
Kevin De Bruyne had opened the scoring for City and Kelechi Iheanacho doubled their lead in the 35th minute before Ibrahimovic capitalised on Bravo’s mistake to score the goal that set up a thrilling second half. Bravo, signed from Barcelona to replace Joe Hart, had a difficult debut but Pep Guardiola was supportive of his new signing.
“Claudio Bravo’s personality showed me a lot today,” the City manager said. “Sometimes when that happens maybe the player can think: ‘It is my fault.’ Instead Claudio said: ‘OK, it’s football, we were unlucky, the situation is unlucky,’ and in the second half look what he did – he played again and again with the ball. He was amazing with his feet – saves, going to attack the ball. I am happy for him. It was not an easy first game, after two training sessions, coming here to Old Trafford, and to play with that personality means a lot.”
Mourinho was less impressed and thought the goalkeeper should have been sent off. “I know the rules of the game. It’s obvious it was a penalty and a red card for Bravo. If it was outside the box, a direct free-kick and a red card. Inside the box, it is more difficult [for a referee] because it’s a big decision and sometimes referees are like us, human, and think twice before big decisions.
“If he [Clattenburg] doesn’t think twice, it’s a penalty and a red card with a big possibility of 2-2 and a lot of time to go. We could have been talking about a completely different story. We were punished by our bad first half, my responsibility, and we were punished by Mark with his bad decisions in the second half.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic regrets not playing for Jose Mourinho longer

Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has reiterated his belief that Jose Mourinho is a "mastermind" and revealed his only regret is that he didn't have more time to play under the Portuguese boss.
Ibrahimovic and Mourinho spent a year together at Inter Milan, where the United boss led the club a historic Treble of Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League titles the season after selling the Swede to Pep Guardiola's Barcelona.
The two stars have reunited at Manchester United, where they will participate in their first Manchester derby on Saturday against Guardiola's City. And the former PSG man hailed Mourinho ahead of the match.
"Mourinho is a mastermind. He knows everything about the game," Ibrahimovic said.
"I do not have many regrets, but I do regret that I did not get to play under Mourinho for longer. When the opportunity came again for him to be my coach at United it was an easy decision.
"Who wouldn't want to be coached by him? I am at a great club with a great coach and great fans and I want to be as successful as possible for them."
Ibrahimovic has helped United to a 100 percent Premier League record thus far -- matching City's impressive start to season -- making this campaign's first derby between the two even more special than usual.
"These games always mean so much to the fans and we want to win for them, but the players must always be focused," Ibrahimovic said.
"Every game must be looked at as an opportunity to win three points whoever the opposition."
On the absence of City striker Sergio Aguero through suspension, Ibrahimovic said: 'You know when you play the teams at the top that any team they put out is going to be dangerous."

Fake Zlatan Ibrahimovic got Man Utd fans fooled

Ahead of the Manchester derby this weekend, Sky Sports employed a Zlatan Ibrahimovic lookalike to roam the streets of Manchester in a replica United jersey, and several members of the public were coned into believing the guy was the Swedish superstar. Manchester United fans then stopped to take pictures with the fake Ibrahimovich, before they found out the man was just a body double.

Ibrahimovic: Mourinho is the mastermind, every player would want him as manager?

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has credited Jose Mourinho as the decisive factor in persuading him to bring his stellar career to the Premier League, claiming he previously rejected moves to England's top flight on two occasions.
Ibrahimovic headed the winner in Manchester United's Community Shield victory over Leicester City and has scored three times in as many Premier League matches to prove an instant hit with the Old Trafford faithful.
The 34-year-old was only compelled to move to England following a decorated stint at Paris Saint-Germain – where he became the club's all-time record goalscorer amid an unprecedented period of success for the Ligue 1 champions – when his former Inter boss Mourinho succeeded Louis van Gaal at United.
"I was close to moving to the Premier League twice - once with Arsenal and then Manchester City," he told reporters.
"But it never happened and I don't need to play in the Premier League.
"Mourinho is the mastermind, the masterbrain.
"He knows what he needs to do to win. I learned a lot from him at Inter. Who wouldn't want to have Mourinho as manager?"
Ibrahimovic is set to lead the line in his first Manchester derby when United host City at Old Trafford next Saturday.

We wondered what Ibrahimovic was doing in Ligue 1 – Roux

Saint-Etienne forward Nolan Roux has admitted he thought Zlatan Ibrahimovic was so good he did not understand why the striker was playing in Ligue 1.
Ibrahimovic spent four seasons in the French top flight with Paris Saint-Germain, scoring 113 goals in 122 league games and winning four titles.
The Swede decided to seek a new challenge in the Premier League by joining Manchester United this summer and Roux believes he was beyond what Ligue 1 defences could handle.
“It’s a shame he’s gone,” he told L’Observateur de Beauvais. “At the same time, when we saw him play, we wondered what he was doing in Ligue 1.
“On the pitch, he exuded a calmness and serenity and was clearly on another level. He may sound arrogant, but it’s a game. I love this player.
“When we were facing him, it was useless to create an ‘anti-Zlatan’ game plan because he was almost impossible to mark.”
