My wife is an ‘unrepentant adulterer’, man tells court

Adeshina, a 40-year-old, who resides at Ipinyewi, off Aroro Adamo Road in Ikorodu, told the court that his wife, Oluwatoyin, was an “unrepentant adulterer’’.
Worried by his wife’s adulterous acts, Mr Azeez Adeshina, on Wednesday approached the Ikorodu Customary Court in Lagos State to annul his 22-year-old marriage.
He asked the court to dissolve the union since the woman was no longer staying with him since 2007.
He said, “I caught her red-handed committing adultery.
“She incited some people to beat me almost to the point of death and the people confirmed this to me after carrying out her orders.
“I cannot imagine being associated with a person that is not under my roof and still bears my name.
“My estranged wife does not care about her image as a wife; she takes pleasure in living outside my home so that she can continue with her adulterous acts.
“I need to move on in life and regain my sanity and that is why I want to divorce her,’’ he told the court.”
The petitioner, a bricklayer, also said he wanted to be separated from Oluwatoyin because she had been endangering the lives of their four children.
Adeshina added: “I have always told her that I do not want her to cross highways with my children where there is a pedestrian bridge but she refused.
“I do not love her again and I do not want her to bear my name any longer.’’
Meanwhile, the respondent, Oluwatoyin who is also 40 years old, accused the petitioner of failing to pay her dowry.
`She said, “Azeez is not a caring person and he finds it difficult to care for me and the children.
“He abandoned me after an accident I had and asked my father to care of me instead.
“Any claim of his that I kidnapped two of our children and harassed him is false.”
She said she moved out of his house because the husband was making life unbearable for her.
In his ruling, the court’s President, Mrs Abiola Omolara, ordered the couple to maintain peace pending when the case would be disposed off.
She said, “I want the two of you to continue to ensure that the children remain in school because you should not allow your misunderstanding to affect their education.
“I will further urge the two of you to discuss the way forward to resolve this crisis and let the court know your resolutions.”
The case has been adjourned to Sept. 18 for continuation of trial.

Signs Your Girlfriend Will Make A Good Wife

In case you have been wondering if your girlfriend is someone you should settle with in future. I accept the fact women can pretend beyond recognition especially if they have the plan of moving into your life as a wife. I accept the fact that they can do everything possible to let you believe they are wife material. However, these features will come as a guide to be examined:

1. She is independent

An independent woman is a good choice because you know that she will not rely on you to keep her happy, occupied, and taken care of. An independent woman wants you rather than needs you; she doesn’t freak out if she doesn’t hear from you for a day, and won’t be clingy or demanding of your time. This kind of woman will make a better wife than one who requires constant attention and reassurance. An independent woman is strong, confident, and not afraid to be alone.
Understand that interdependency is healthy. The kind of independence your wife should have concerns her ability to fully function on her own. But, she also knows how to reach for you when she does need you and can depend on you emotionally.

2. She is level-headed

A woman who is level-headed is much more appealing than one who is frustrated by every minor issue. You want a woman who will remain reasonably calm in stressful situations. This does not mean she will be perfect and never get upset, but she will not lose her cool at everything that goes wrong. She knows how to handle her emotions and thinks before she speaks.
You should also feel that she is a good resource for times when you might be under stress. You can count on her abilities, intelligence and thoughts when you can’t.

3. She’s low-maintenance

Just because a woman is low-maintenance doesn’t mean she doesn’t care about herself at all, but she won’t spend hours getting ready for a date. A low-maintenance woman doesn’t pile on the makeup, spend too much money on shoes and clothes, or need constant reminders that you love the way she looks. She takes pride in the way she looks without going overboard.
A high maintenance woman may not be with you through thick and thin. What happens when you can’t maintain her lifestyle? You should not worry that this person will leave you or look elsewhere to keep her expensive habits going.

4. She supports your goals

A woman who supports your personal and career goals will make a good wife. This type of woman understands that not everything will be about her or you as a couple. While you both will have individual goals, she will be by your side cheering you in your efforts. She won’t feel threatened by the time and energy you put into achieving your goals because she will have her own.
Your goals should also mesh nicely. They should not be so divergent as to cause a rift between you both. Knowing your spouse supports will help you meet those goals as well.

5. She stands up for herself

Whether she is standing up to you, a family member, or a friend, you want a woman who will not let people treat her badly. You do not want a woman who will accept your bad behavior toward her or in general. You will likely loose respect for her. A woman who stands up for herself has confidence in herself and will not let anyone abuse her, talk down to her, or act as though her opinions don’t matter.
If you want to get married, it’s important to look for qualities that show the woman you are dating is a capable of being alone, strong, and responsible. Getting married is nothing to take lightly and you want to make the best decision for your life.

EFCC arrests man who wedded and duped his wife of N6.7m

Report says that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, has arrested one Chike Nnaemeka, for allegedly tricking an official of the Federal Road Safety Corps into marrying him and paying for the wedding.
Nnaemeka, aka Dr. Justified, was said to have duped his victim, Nkechi Ani, of N6.7m.
The EFCC, in a statement by its spokesman, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, said Nnaemeka, who claimed to be a gynaecologist, allegedly collected the sum under different requests. The victim was reportedly introduced to him by one of her classmates at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State.
The suspect was also said to have tricked Ani into marrying him and they were joined in a traditional wedding on June 6, 2015, without informing her that he was married with three children.
In her petition, the complainant said, ‘‘During the wedding preparation, Justified brought up so many stories bordering on cultural issues that I or anyone from my family is not supposed to visit his home town until after my marriage. He also said that the tradition of his place as a lone prince demanded that I sponsored every financial aspect of the traditional marriage, but that he would refund me to the last one naira I spent.”
According to the commission, the suspect continued to deceive his victim and even claimed to have property that both Zenith Bank Plc and Diamond Bank Plc were purportedly interested in buying.
The suspect was said to have shown the complainant some documents of the property, and requested her to raise some money to enable him to complete the process.
The complainant allegedly transferred some amounts to the suspect, after being assured that he would refund her.
But on December 23, 2015, the suspect allegedly left the house on the pretext that he was going to sign the agreement papers with the banks to finalise the transaction.  Ani  also alleged that the suspect stole the sum of $3000 belonging to her boss.
“Meanwhile, investigation has revealed that the suspect, who is married to another woman who had three children for him, also lied that his mother passed on some years back. The suspect will soon be charged to court, after investigation is concluded,” the statement added.

Family suspects foul play in Ocholi, wife, son’s death

The Federal Government has promised to investigate how the driver of the Sport Utility Vehicle, in which the Minister of State for Labour, Mr. James Ocholi (SAN); his wife, Blessing; and son, Joshua, died along the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway on Sunday, was employed.
The Minister of Labour, Dr. Chris Ngige, stated this on Monday while responding to the call by the relatives of the deceased, including Ocholi’s uncle, Abdallah Aliu; another relative, Paul Audu; and the immediate younger sister to the late Blessing, who did not want her name mentioned, that the driver be investigated.
“The acting Permanent Secretary is here, she is the one in charge of human resources. We will find out and investigate it. We will do, but I can tell you that our personal drivers are known to us and we both keep our personal drivers. We will find out and investigate this,” Ngige said.
The Ocholi family is working on some theories concerning the accident.
The family members believed that the driver of a car that somersaulted several times would ordinarily be unconscious and would not take photographs of the deceased and upload them on social media.
They also contended that the driver and the orderly should have cordoned off the place and evacuated the corpses as this had been the tradition whenever a VIP was involved in an accident.
Aliu said, “Distinguished Senator Ngige, I know you very well. When James Ocholi was told to work with you, I knew he was in good hands because the last time I saw you was in Anambra State. We ate with you in your house as a governor.
“This man that just died is not a lone person. We leave this responsibility in your care. Whoever recruited the driver and posted (redeploy) him should be investigated. It can happen to anybody, it can happen to any minister. It can happen because it has happened.
“So, we want to know who recruited the driver, and at what speed (he was during the trip) to the extent that the corpse of the deceased cannot even be recognised. Can you imagine that? I am worried, it is worrisome.”
He also shed light on his allegations later during a telephone interview with The PUNCH.
Aliu added, “There was a kind of foul play in the whole exercise, which is very worrisome. Apparently, the driver who drove the car was the same person who took the photo of the dead man and sent it all over the Internet – whatsApp and others. So, the question is: how come that the driver of the vehicle in the same car was able to take the picture of the dead man?
“The side of the door, where the Honourable Minister sat, was not properly locked because after the car somersaulted, the thing flung him and so he had a terrible and fatal damage that his body was beyond recognition. There was a foul play in Ocholi’s death.
“While I was in his house, I already knew because those who conspired and plotted it (the death) became jittery because I have never been to that house and they don’t know me. But somehow, they became jittery, scared and worried.
“This thing they did is political, it is a political war and some people want to score some political points against the system somehow. The death of Ocholi is quite suspicious.
“So, I had to hurriedly leave because God has made me to know what happened and we know that they will get the people who are responsible. When you are innocent, God will always uncover how certain things happened. Ocholi’s death is a great loss to the common people of Nigeria. And the spirit of the common people of Nigeria is fighting back.
“The perpetrators want to derail the focus of this administration. They are looking for every way to put a wedge in the wheel of success. I can specifically pinpoint those who plotted these things. What they are trying to do now is to knock heads together and the earlier we get rid of them out of that place, the better.
“As we were there, they were trying to get the contacts of the ministers that came there for condolence, making phone calls and reporting back to whoever is their manipulator.
“They decided to get rid of Ocholi to derail the focus of the government. Ocholi was not smart enough to know that these things could happen. They have lost, failed and we will ask God to forgive them because they have taken a soul that they cannot create.”
The Federal Executive Council will on Wednesday hold a special session to pay tribute to the late Ocholi.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, disclosed this to State House correspondents on Monday.
Adesina said the deceased, being an active member of the council, would be given his due tribute at the special session.
He said President Muhammadu Buhari, shocked by Ocholi’s sudden death, had described the accident that claimed his life and those of two other members of his family as a tragedy of monumental proportion.
Adesina said, “You can feel the soberness in the atmosphere. Everybody believes that this is a terrible tragedy.
“Mr. President paid glowing tribute to the departed. Their relationship dated back to the CPC days to the role he played in the APC merger.
“The President just concluded that it is a tragedy of monumental proportion.
“The late Ocholi will be given his dues. He was an active member of the Federal Executive Council.
“I recall that we shared laughter after the last meeting on some things that are hilarious. When I heard about the tragedy yesterday, that our last meeting came to my mind.
“So you can be sure that on Wednesday, the council will pay him his due tribute.”
Meanwhile, the Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Boboye Oyeyemi, has said the agency does not recruit drivers for governors, ministers or other senior government officials.
He explained that the officials were responsible for their convoy drivers.
Oyeyemi, who said this on Monday in Abuja while responding to questions on the auto crash in which Ocholi, his wife and son, were killed, stated that the FRSC had been training the drivers of top government officials.
He explained that investigation into the crash was ongoing, noting that the report would be ready in 72 hours.
Oyeyemi said, “We have been collaborating with governors and other government officials in the training of their drivers, but we don’t recruit drivers for them, but we train convoy drivers in the nitty-gritty of good driving skills.”
On speed limiters, the FRSC boss called on all stakeholders as well as Nigerians to support the implementation of the device, starting with commercial vehicles “as it will go a long way in reducing road crashes caused by speeding.”
The corps marshal stressed the need to control the speed of tanker drivers as well as train them in driving techniques.
Oyeyemi said the corps had always campaigned for the use of the front seat belts.
“Henceforth, we will start the campaign on the use of the rear seat belts to further enhance the safety of passengers in a vehicle,” he added.
He warned motorists to stop the purchase of expired tyres, which, he said, contributed to road crashes.
