Man charged with stabbing person during church service

A 65-year-old South Carolina man is charged with stabbing the person sitting in front of him in church.
Local media outlets report Billy Lewis of Wedgefield, about 35 miles east of Columbia, is charged with attempted murder for stabbing a man during services Sunday at St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church.
Authorities have not identified the victim. He was airlifted to a hospital in Columbia with severe injuries.
Witnesses told Sumter County Sheriff's deputies that Lewis stood about 9:30 a.m. and began stabbing the man in front of him in the back and head for no apparent reason. A nurse attending the service helped the victim until emergency responders arrived.
Deputies say Lewis has a history of mental health issues, but that hasn't included violence.

Man beaten to death for urinating near church

A man in Southern Germany was beaten to death by four men after he publicly urinated near a church, police said on Thursday.
Police are searching for the four men who hurled insults and attacked the 51-year-old man recently after he was seen urinating close to a church in Freiburg, a city in Germany’s traditionally Catholic south.
According to police, the man told his son about the attack before succumbing to his injuries later that day.
However an autopsy confirmed that he died as a result of the attack.
Report says public urination on Church buildings has become an issue of public concern in Germany, corroding the buildings’ sandstone foundations and leading authorities to institute hefty fines.

Five year-old girl draws out how she was raped by priest

A mother and father in Brazil have discovered heart-breaking sketches drawn by their 5-year-old girl showing how she was allegedly sexually abused by a priest.

DailymailUK reports that the parents had taken her to a child psychologist after she became withdrawn and refused to attend any more of her English classes taken by 54-year-old Father Joao da Silva. It was the psychologist that suspected sexual abuse and urged her parents to search their child’s room for any signs.

The girl’s parents found the sketches after their daughter suddenly refused to attend any more of da Silva’s English classes.
To their utmost shock, they found six heartbreaking drawings by their daughter detailing the sexual abuse, hidden in one of her books. One drawing shows a man apparently looming over a child who has a look of abject terror on her face. Another harrowing image apparently shows a girl lying on a bed with a man forcing himself between her legs. Underneath him the picture appears to show the girl screaming in either fear or agony.

Father Joao da Silva is said to have admitted the attack after the child’s furious father confronted him in the city of Montes Claros, in Minas Gerais in Brazil. When the father confronted the priest in a phone call, he told police, the cleric confessed to him.

After 87 days of Marriage, Pastor Dumps Pregnant Wife for Affecting Tithe Payment and Church's Growth

In Nairobi, a Kayole pastor dumped his pregnant wife after accusing her of being the sole reason for declining congregants in his church and little tithe. The wife accused him of being stingy with money and of infidelity.

A wedding between a Kayole Pastor and his pregnant wife ended 87 days after their wedding ceremony in April 2016 and sent her back to her parents in Muranga.
Apostle Kenneth Kiarie, 30, accused his wife, Marion Wagitu, 23, of being the reason his church and congregants were experiencing weird occurrences.
The two initially rushed into marriage because he was a pastor and needed to have a wife and he hurriedly accepted because he was a pastor.
According to the Standard, Kiarie blamed his wife for his KSh 70,000 debt after funding their wedding as well as being the main reason there was little tithe being given in his church.
“He blamed her for the declining congregation numbers because of her odd behaviours in and out of the church,” published the news site on Friday, September 23.
Wagitu told the newspaper that Kiarie often told her that if she left, there were many other beautiful women hanging around him who could become his wife.

“He claimed I threw hot water and a stove at him and attempted to beat him in front of his parents. He often left me with KSh 5 for cooking oil on grounds that I am a villager,” said Wagitu.
Swearing in the name of God, Kiarie refuted the claims saying that his former wife had weird behaviours, often used offensive words and attempted to assault him in front of friends and family.

“It is a false accusation that I was unfaithful. Actually, this is the third time I chased her away and it has now been successful. She wanted to control me but that is not African. I said we’d rather separate than have one of us dead,” said Kiarie.
Despite being the one who rushed them into marriage, Kiarie said he believed Wagitu to be insane and wanted her evaluated if she wanted a life partner some day.
“I did not want to send her away but being a pastor, everybody thought I was the problem. A wife means a lot to a man but she is not worth living with. She will harm me,” added Kiarie.
Their inability to compliment each other could be attributed to the fact that between their first meeting and their wedding was only four months and so, could not know each other well.
“I overlooked Kikuyu traditions to allow the wedding to take place without Kiarie paying bride price. This situation has left us in embarrassed and he has to send an emissary of elders to resolve the matter instead of maligning my daughter’s name,” said Wagitu’s father.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s controversial marriage sermon

The General Overseer of Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, has come under strong criticism from Nigerians on social media over his religious views on gender equality.
A Facebook post on the official page of the church’s online ministry, last Sunday, cited an excerpt of the clergyman’s message titled ‘Who is a husband and what is his role?’, in which husbands were defined as “masters” as opposed to “male partners.”
Oyakhilome’s ex-wife, Anita, had on February 8, finalised her divorce from the pastor and dropped his last name for “Obhodaghe.”
Her lawyers confirmed the divorce earlier this year, following months of speculation that there was trouble in their marriage.
Anita, who had cited irreconcilable differences while filing for divorce, also severed ties with the church.
But Oyakhilome, in his message on Facebook, said the reason for most problems in Christian marriages was a refusal of God’s definition of marriage by women.
He said, “They believe they are equal partners. (But) ‘husband’ does not mean the male partner in a marriage, husband means master.
“The Bible says the man is the head of the woman (1 Corinthians 11:3) so when you marry him, you come under his authority. You are not authority sharers, even though you are both heirs to the kingdom of God.”
According to the pastor, when one decides not to subject oneself to that authority, one becomes a rebel.
“God is not going to accept what you are doing because you are not functioning correctly. Why did God make the woman? If most women had fathers bold enough to talk to them, they would be very successful in their marriage and they would be very happy people.
“Most women have never been taught by their parents, their fathers particularly and that’s their biggest problem because they don’t know who a man is. They think he is another woman,” he said.
The message went viral on many platforms.
Oyakhilome’s stance received backlash from some Nigerians, who expressed their disagreement in the comments section of the post.
Blessing Meteke said, “Unfortunately, this is the type of preaching that millions of Nigerians listen to. ‘Making a woman was not God’s original plan. When a husband is angry, the wife is the victim.’
“This is what men adhere to and they make their wives and daughters-in-law slaves in their own homes. Misogyny has eaten deep into several Nigerians and they use the Bible as a cover-up. This is not only disheartening but exasperating.”
Babalola Olusegun added, “Can the pastor explain Genesis 1:27, because looking at the passage, God put women in His plan even before creating them. The man should remember that the woman is removed from his ribs, which means the man is not complete without the woman.”
Jane Onyejiaka also said, “Some points in this sermon are flawed, with all due respect. I will never teach my sons that a woman is an afterthought. God doesn’t do things for doing sake. Anyway, he is a pastor, not God. I always sieve what I read and I take the good and leave the rest.”
Similarly, Ekaette Essien said, “I didn’t see any advice for men here. Making a successful home should not be a one-sided thing. It should not rest on the shoulder of only the women. A man who loves his wife will surely earn respect from such a wife.
“If you are a boss-type husband, surely rebellion awaits you. Let’s be real, please. Even God who created us does not act like a boss to us. He loves us; that’s why His children have to obey and respect Him.”

Prelate Sunday Mbang: The wrath of God will visit the Children, Grandchildren of corrupt politicians

Former Prelate of the Methodist Church and one time President of the Christian Association of Nigeria CAND, Prelate Sunday Mbang, has said that the wrath of God will visit the children and grand children of corrupt politicians who steal from the treasury just to benefit themselves and their families. The clergy man who recently turned 80 years old, said this in a recent interview with Tribune.
"In Christianity, the Bible makes it clear that when you commit a crime, it is to the third and fourth generations. The belief with us is that they have allowed the grace of God in the New Testament to seem to have covered what is in the Old Testament – the wrath and love of God – which is also reflected in the New Testament. If you don’t repent of your sin, the wrath of God will fall upon you. People suffer in this country and what they would do is to explain it scientifically. I said it earlier that I made a prayer and someone died.
That death would be explained scientifically and so the main point would be clear to the people. The fact is that once you commit sin; once you loot public treasury; once you convert money belonging to the people for yourself and family, you will suffer, your children will suffer to the third and fourth generations. When these things happen, people explain them scientifically.
Nowadays if anything happens to someone, it would be blamed on either the brother, father or the mother, not knowing that God’s wrath might have fallen on the person. Every sin has punishment.
What I can tell our politicians is that all the sins they have committed – corruption, hatred, killings, kidnapping, false accusations – the wrath of the God will visit them one after the other to the third and fourth generations. My prayer is that all those seeking political appointments, because the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, God is the owner of the earth. He is not an absentee landlord. He is interested in this world. So when you come and do whatever you feel like, don’t think God does not see it. He sees everything we do and He gives us the grace for what we have done right and punishment, for our wrongs.
My advice to the politicians is for them to remember that whatsoever they sow, they shall reap. If they escape it, their children will not. If they do, their grandchildren will bear the punishment, whether they like it or not. You can go to prayer houses to pray, unless you repent. When Zacchaeus, the tax collector in the Bible wanted to repent, he said he would return ten times all that he had taken unlawfully. Can any politician do that? If they can do so, God can show mercy because some of them might have ignorantly stolen. Even if Buhari decides to leave them unpunished, they can’t escape from God.
That is my advice to all the Christians who venture into politics. God is watching them and their family every day. Every sin they commit against that person who has gotten food to eat in his house, God will not allow them to go scot-free" he said.

Satan used children against me – Pastor found with 13 girls in sex bedroom

Chukwuemeka Nwocha, 36, the General Overseer of Tongue of Fire Restoration Ministry located in Igbosere, Lagos, is a ‘man of God’ that his congregation, both young and old, called “Daddy”.
But on Friday, as he was being paraded before journalists at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja, he was no longer a “spiritual daddy”  but a suspect who harboured 13 underaged girls as sex slaves in a three-bedroomed harem.
Fair complexioned and soft-spoken,  Nwocha did not come across as someone capable of such crime. When he started to talk about what he did before journalists, he started by saying “By His Grace,” a statement that elicited a laugh of derision from all present.
According to Nwocha, it all started when the children in his church, who called him, “Daddy, daddy” told him they would like to visit him.
He said, “I only tried to help the girls. When the first girl came, she said she  did not have anywhere to go. I did not know her parents. I am a pastor and I felt pity for her. After spending three days, I told her she needed to go out and bring some of her relations so that they would know where she was. But she did not.
“Later, some parents in my church also said they would like to send their children to live with  me. Some of them came to spend holidays after their exam.”
He insisted the parents knew they were  in his house. But after telling stories that  diverted attention from allegations that he raped the girls and had also forced some of them to do abortions, he paused and shook his head.
“I am a pastor, the devil only used the children against me. I did not rape them. I only slept with Sola (real name withheld). She is my girlfriend and we actually planned to marry.
When asked how old the girl he mentioned was, he said she was about to clock 17.
Asked again if the parents of the girls he claimed knew their whereabouts also knew he was sexually abusing them, he said yes.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, had said that the pastor haboured the girls with the promise of paying their school fees, feeding them and buying gifts for them.
“While they were in his house, three of them became pregnant and he took them for abortions. He first denied all the allegations but like all criminals, he later confessed to raping them without using protection,” the CP said.
Our correspondent, spoke with one of the girls, who were also brought to the Lagos State Police Command.
The 13-year-old girl, who sobbed as she talked, explained that her parents indeed gave her permission to spend the holiday in the pastor’s house.
The girl said all the 13 of them in the pastor’s house lived in one room in his three-bedroomed flat.
“There is only one bed in the room. We  all sleep anyhow we could. One of us, who is older is the one who cooked in the house. I got there two weeks ago. My parents are his church members. I just felt it will be good if I spent part of the holiday in pastor’s house. My parents gave their permission before I went there.
“It was when I got to the house that I saw other girls. Few days after I got there, he called me and took me to his room and slept with me. He told me not to speak to anybody about what he did and that he would buy me clothes. I knew that he was sleeping with the other girls. I don’t know whether anyone of the other girls have had abortion.”
The girl confirmed that the pastor is married and that his wife is schooling and was never around, contrary to the claim of the pastor that he was single.
This was corroborated by another girl who said they all called the pastor’s wife   Mary and that she  came around to the house once in a while.
The CP has said Nwocha would be prosecuted along with whoever conspired with him to commit the crimes.

In Enugu, Pastor allegedly marries mother, daughter

A pastor, Mr Timothy Ngwu, was on Monday docked at an Enugu North Magistrates’ Court for allegedly marrying another man’s wife, daughter as well as another woman.
Veronica Ngwu, the pastor’s wife was said to have petitioned the court over the development.
The victims whom Ngwu converted to his “wives’’ were said to be members of his church: Gods’ Favor Ministry, Nsukka.
One of the victims, Mrs Calista Omeye, however, told the court that her husband, Mr Fidelis Omeye, had persuaded her to meet the pastor as he wanted her to do the will of God through the pastor.
“My husband was a member of the church and he introduced me to the church, because he said that the pastor had a revelation for me (Calista).
She said the revelation had to do the will of God but he later left the church but I refused to leave the church with him.
“I have 10 children for him and we were all members of the church before he quitted and I had a baby for the pastor but the baby died after some weeks,” she told the court.
She said that it was with her husband’s consent that their daughter was given to the pastor in marriage.
“It is not true that I gave out our daughter in marriage to the pastor without the consent from my husband, he was aware of everything,” she said.
The pastor who hailed from Ihe-Owerre, Nsukka, was absent from the court as he was said to be on admission at an hospital in Enugu.
The presiding magistrate, Mrs R.I. Oruruo, adjourned hearing in the matter to Sept. 26.
In another development, the magistrate sentenced 17 youths from Amuzam-Ugwuaji in Enugu North Local Government Area to three weeks’ imprison for conspiracy and unlawful assembly.
The accused persons were in 2013 arraigned for malicious damage of a building under construction belonging to one Mr Charles Maduekwe, at Independence Layout, Enugu.
The complainant had told court that he invested over N20million on the project before the incident occurred.
Maduekwe said that he invited some military men to arrest the accused person who later handed them over to the police.
He said that the military men recovered harmers and other dangerous weapons used by the accused persons to perpetuate the crime.
Meanwhile, the President General of the town, Mr Emmanuel Nwafor, said that the disputed land belonged to the community.
No external body had ever claimed the land or bought it from the community, Nwafor said.
He alleged that the youths were waiting for the elders to allocate the land before the military arrived and whisked them away.
“We did not destroy any pillar or building as the land was covered by weeds. We only went there to share the land.
“It was when they refused to leave the land that some military men arrested them,” he said.
Ruling on the matter, Oruruo said that the evidence before the court showed that there was a conspiracy among the accused persons to commit a crime and unlawful assembly to breach public peace.
She, therefore, sentenced the accused persons to three weeks imprisonment each, with a N10, 000 option of fine. (NAN)

Drama as church members storm mortuary to ‘resurrect dead people’

There was drama at a Kenyan hospital – Webuye county hospital on Saturday when faithfuls from Temple of God church stormed the hospital’s mortuary “to resurrect the dead”.
According to five members of the church of more than 200 members, they had been sent by the holy spirit to pray for the sick, heal them and resurrect the dead.
Led by a man who called himself prophet Daniel Wechuli, the three women and two men squad claimed to have healed several people through their prayers, that they have led healing prayers for people living with disabilities and they all got healed.
“We have been moving to various hospitals praying for the sick and most of then have been healed by faith,” Wechuli said.
Prophet Daniel Wechuli said that the holy spirit had spoken to them to come and resurrect people who had died prematurely.
“We are divine people who are anointed by the holy spirit to move to hospitals preaching and healing the sick without asking for any penny,” he said.
“We want to show people the power of God in their lives through our church that has been healing and restoring lives to God,” she said.
Another female member said that their task is only to pray and one’s faith is what matters if he wants to be healed.
“We have been to Malava hospital where we prayed and all the sick were healed and left the ward,” Wafula said.
She said that they started the prayers in July and have been to Vihiga, Kakamega and Malava where they have received overwhelming healing testimonies.
However, no one had resurrected by press time as the group kept on praying. Residents of Webuye jammed the facility to take a look at the strange incident.

Oil Well Found in Winners Church

According to report reaching The Summons Post, an illegal oil well has been uncovered within the premises of Winners satellite church, Iyana-Odo, Igando-Ikotun local council development area, Lagos state.
The oil well was discovered by the Nigerian army and officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Vanguard reports.
According to the resident pastor, Oladela Paul, the church had sent a formal complain to Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) when they noticed the well within the church premise was filled with Petroleum Motor Spirit.
He lamented that the church was yet to get any response from the NNPC, months after writing the corporation for solution.
The pastor said the well has become a source of harassment to the church and our members.
Paul said aside the harassment, the church was afraid of the impending hazard which it cannot determine.
The NSCDC Lagos commandant, Tajudeen Balogun, who led the operation, confirmed the discovery.
He said the visit to the church was to evaluate the extent of the spillage and take necessary actions.
This came barely two weeks after the police and other security agencies shut about 10 houses on Ibadan and Abeokuta streets in Ilasamaja axis of the state, over discovery of shallow oil wells built by landlords to illegally scoop diesel from pipeline.
